Peter said that he would evaluate the PREDEFINED suggestion; if it works, we can go that route, and if it does not, we can handle the unwanted warnings by a post-processing script.

IMO this bug *as a bug* is complete:  the main points have been addressed.

There is an ongoing issue of organization; we've made significant progress in associating docs with modules, which helps.  More cleanup is needed.  GCI?

Should we leave this open?  or close?
